Why Go: The ancient stadium of Philippopolis was built in the beginning of the 2nd century BC by Hadrian. It was 240 m long, 50 m wide and could accommodate 30 000 viewers. Now a part of it is exposed and restored, while the rest lies under Plovdiv's city centre.
