Why Go: The Solis Theatre is Uruguay's oldest theatre, and showcases all major productions and performances in Montevideo throughout the year. It was built in 1856 and is currently owned by the city of Montevideo. It is located in Plaza Independencia (Ciudad Vieja). The columns were designed by Philippe Starck and the architecture is very striking, impressive, and opulent.
