Why Go: If you have a full day and you're a serious hiker, you won't want to miss Wheeler Peak. It's the highest point in New Mexico, and it makes for an exhilarating hike. While it doesn't seem to arduous in mileage (it's about 5 in total), a large portion of it is going straight up a mountain, and will therefore take some time and wear you out. Give yourself an evening of rest after you conquer this peak!
