Why Go: Out of all the five observatories, the Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the largest and best preserved. It has been inscribed on the World Heritage List as ‘an expression of the astronomical skills and cosmological concepts of the court of a scholarly prince at the end of the Mughal period’. It houses the world's largest sundial. The Jantar Mantar has preserved various architectural and astrological instruments that have been a major attraction for astronomers, historians and architects around the world.
